One-on-One Linux Admin Course

I want to build solid, practical skills in Linux administration from the ground up and need a personalised training programme that starts at beginner level and quickly moves into real-world server work. The course should be delivered live (screen-sharing or virtual lab environment preferred) with plenty of hands-on tasks between sessions so I can practise and get feedback.

Core areas I need to master are:
• Server management and day-to-day upkeep
• User and permission management, including detailed audit of user actions and logs
• Network configuration, troubleshooting and iptables-based firewall rules
• System logging: where to find critical logs, how to interpret them and set up log rotation/retention
• Security hardening and incident response fundamentals

By the end, I want to feel comfortable taking responsibility for a small production server, understanding what to check when things go wrong, and confidently navigating the command line without step-by-step notes.

Deliverables
1. A structured syllabus tailored to a beginner that covers the topics above, split into logical modules with clear learning objectives.
2. Live teaching sessions (recorded for later review).
3. Practical lab exercises and/or virtual machine images for each module.
4. Short reference sheets or slide decks summarising key commands and best practices.
5. A final capstone task: configuring a fresh server from scratch with secure user access, network services and log monitoring, followed by a debrief session.

Preferred tools: any mainstream Linux distribution (Ubuntu Server or CentOS/AlmaLinux are fine), OpenSSH, iptables/nftables, systemd-journal and standard log utilities. Feel free to suggest additional open-source tools that aid learning.

Scheduling is flexible; evenings and weekends GMT work best for me. Please outline your proposed timeline, the teaching platform you’ll use, and examples of past training or mentorship experience so I can see your approach in action.
