Linux VPS Malware Cleanup & Hardening
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
My Hostinger VPS is running Linux and has been hit by a Trojan-style malware infection. I need someone who can step in quickly, clean out every trace of the malware, and then lock the system down so it stays secure. Nothing is currently installed for antivirus or anti-malware protection, so you will be starting from a clean slate.
The job involves three concrete phases:
• Malware removal – run a full scan, identify infected files or processes, and eradicate the threat without disrupting live services.
• Security hardening – configure a solid firewall (e.g. iptables/ufw), set up fail2ban or similar, close unused ports, patch the OS and services, and install reputable anti-malware/IDS tools.
• Ongoing monitoring – deploy lightweight monitoring so I can receive alerts for future suspicious activity and routine health checks.
Acceptance criteria
1. Server is verified clean by at least two independent scanners.
2. Critical services remain functional after the cleanup.
3. A brief hand-over report lists actions taken, tools installed, and commands to repeat future scans.
4. Automated alerts are demonstrably reaching my email or preferred messaging channel.
Root SSH access and Hostinger’s control panel credentials will be provided the moment we agree to start.
