Proxmox Setup via Ansible on Hetzner
Project Summary
Our goal is to create an environment where we can create virtual machines to host applications, databases, etc.
The environment will run on a dedicated server at Hetzner and will also use vSwitches for at least two types of networks (public, private).
The public vSwitch network will have an IP sub range accessible via the public Internet.
The private vSwitch network is used for internal communication only (but the VMs shall still have access to internet for updates etc.) . Servers/Virtual Machines belonging to the private vSwitch network will be able to reach each other.
Our project requires an experienced freelancer who can perform the following tasks:
- Setting up Proxmox on a dedicated Hetzner server using Debian bookworm as the preferred operating system
- Utilizing Ansible to automate the setup and configuration process
- Setting up three VMs (all based on debian bookworm) via Ansible
- VM1: Wiregurad VPN to make the environment securely accessbile (public IP from vSwitch)
- VM 2: DNSmasq to resolve domain to the according VM in the private vSwitch network.
- VM 3: HAProxy that will proxy internet traffic to VM within the private vSwitch network (HAProxy is not necessary to setup, but this VM should be able to reach the Vms in the private network)
- The ansible setup can be splitted into roles and setting up the host and Vms can happen in separte ansible scripts
- Ensuring root access to the server is available for seamless execution
- Expertise in automating setup and configuration tasks with Ansible is essential
- Expertise in Network Configuration in a Hetzner environment, as the network shall base on two vSwitches
- Public vSwitch with a IP Subrange
- Private vSwitch
- Vms will make use of or two of these
Ideal skills and experience for this job include:
- Proficiency in Proxmox setup and configuration
- Strong knowledge of Debian operating system
- Extensive experience in using Ansible for automation
- Profound understanding of Hetzner server environment
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve any issues that may arise during the setup process
