Firewall Management via GitLab Implementation -- 2
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
We are currently seeking a freelancer to review and optimize the network settings of our Debian Proxmox, pfSense, and GitLab configurations. The goal is to enable seamless traffic flow from IP Address -> Proxmox -> pfSense -> GitLab, and vice versa GitLab -> pfSense -> Proxmox -> IP Address.
Responsibilities include ensuring the proper assignment of IP addresses for Proxmox, creating and verifying virtual adapters for networking infrastructure, and configuring NFTables on Debian (Proxmox), pfSense, and GitLab. This is crucial for the effective use of a single IP address, as our setup involves Proxmox (Virtualization) based on Debian, using NFTables to NAT to pfSense, which then NATs to GitLab. All infrastructure is cloud-based, specifically Virtual Dedicated Servers (VDS).
Responsibilities:
1. Network Settings:
- Verify IP address assignments for Proxmox.
- Create and check virtual adapters for networking infrastructure.
2. NFTables Setup:
- Configure NFTables for streamlined firewall management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any NFTables-related issues.
3. pfSense Integration:
- Integrate pfSense with GitLab for a comprehensive firewall solution.
- Ensure smooth communication between GitLab and pfSense to enhance security.
- Resolve the existing bug related to NAT ports 80/443 from Proxmox to pfSense to GitLab.
4. GitLab Deployment:
- Deploy GitLab within our cloud infrastructure for centralized firewall management.
- Optimize GitLab performance for Virtual Dedicated Servers.
- Recreate SSL certificates on GitLab with a custom domain name.
Required Skills:
1. GitLab Management:
- Significant experience in setting up and managing GitLab.
- Proficient in GitLab shell scripting for automation.
2. Networking:
- Expertise in working with IP addresses and configuration.
3. NFTables:
- Strong knowledge, including setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
4. pfSense:
- Proficiency in configuration and integration with GitLab.
5. Cloud Infrastructure:
- Familiarity with Virtual Dedicated Servers (VDS) and cloud-based server management.
6. Firewall Management:
- Strong understanding of firewall configurations and best practices.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in similar projects involving GitLab, IP addresses, NFTables, and pfSense.
