refactor iOS lichess.com companion app prototype to make it ready for release
Budget: $25 – $125 USD
I’m a software developer and made myself a Lichess.com companion app (will give some details below).
This project is to:
- clean up the code
- find and fix bugs
- help shepherd the app through the App Store release process
The purpose of the app is to act as a companion app for people with a physical “DGT” chess board.
The way it works is:
- you turn on the dgt chess board
- you log into your laptop, connect it to the board, and start a game
- you start the mobile app and can ignore the laptop, and the mobile app shows a game clock and alerts you to moves by your opponent
The idea is that this better simulates a real game using a chess clock than having to look at the computer
DGT board <—>laptop<—->lichess.com<—->mobile app
The mobile app uses the lichess read-only API, so there is no need to communicate between the board and the website
Requirements:
- some knowledge of chess/online chess (you don’t have to be good, just know the rules)
- strong track record of iOS app delivery
- strong project leadership and project management skills so you can identify what’s needed to take this from my prototype to a robust production app
- nice to have: either (1) willing to be paid in part by having a DGT board shipped to you that you can keep or (2) located in SF Bay Area so you can use mine, for testing
You will also be credited as a developer in the app, and we will probably open source it.
