Create simple text in SVG Scalable Vector Graphics template for K40 laser engraving
Budget: $10 – $30 CAD
This is a very simple quick project that I need to be completed preferably tonight. I currently have a K40 laser engraver that uses K40 whisper software. This software uses SVG files to laser engrave part numbers into aluminum. We are using InkScape as our editing software as it saves SVG as a default. All of our engraving is Text about 1.5”-2” high. The problem is when I create text in InkScape and try to print with K40 Whisperer, the text is printed as an outline only. On K40 whisper, black is used for printing, while white is unprinted area.
Please see the following page, this will explain why I can only print outlines of text.

This is not an issue for small text, but 2” text only shows the outline.
I need a simple way of creating SVG text that will have two options:
1. Filled instead of outline
2. Inverse fill – Outside black, lettering white
For the project to be completed I must have a template that I can use in Inkscape, MS Office – I’m experimenting with SVG printer driver or any freeware software / application. Lettering to print normal or inverse as explained. I need minimal steps to create this text SVG file.
This project may be as simple as a few settings in InkScape or as complicated as finding a word-SVG converter and testing. I am also open to other solutions that will work with the K40 laser to make it more user friendly for this application.
