China Sourcing Agent to Find Factories for Steel Rod Stiffeners (Hardware)
Budget: $100 – $250 USD
We are a New Zealand manufacturer of seismic restraint and building-services suspension products. One of our steel components, threaded-rod stiffeners, currently comes through a local distributor, and we want to buy direct from the factory in China to improve cost and secure supply. Volume is ongoing and repeats.
The product:
- A steel rod stiffener used with threaded rod (all-thread) in building services and seismic bracing. It fits onto the rod to stiffen it against buckling.
- It suits M10 to M12 threaded rod. The size we currently buy is marked M12 x 9 x 40.
- Two finishes: zinc-plated (electro-galvanized) and hot-dip galvanized (HDG).
- Unbranded / OEM parts (we re-label), so no branding is required.
- This is a standard off-the-shelf part; no custom tooling is needed. Reference photos of the exact part are attached.
What we need you to do:
1. Identify 5 to 8 genuine manufacturers that make this part and can export directly to New Zealand, via Alibaba, 1688, Made-in-China, or your own network.
2. For each supplier, gather: company name and location; years in business; confirmation they can export directly; the product details and photos they provide; MOQ; EXW and CIF unit price; lead time; payment terms; and sample availability and cost.
3. Quote pricing at 3,000 and 10,000 units per order, both zinc and HDG, showing the price breaks.
4. Flag any concerns about a supplier and explain how you checked them.
Deliverable: a short comparison sheet of the shortlisted suppliers with the data above, plus their contact details so we can approach the factories directly.
As a price guide, we are targeting about USD 0.28 per unit ex-works for the zinc-plated part (HDG somewhat higher).
In your bid, please tell us:
1. Are you based in China, and do you speak Mandarin with factories?
2. How do you tell a genuine manufacturer from a trading company?
3. Briefly, how would you approach this and how long would it take?
This is an initial scoping project. If it goes well, we expect ongoing sourcing, quality-control and order-management work.
