help engineer healthy, non toxic, energy efficient, sustainable and affordable rammed earth projects
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Use your engineering expertise to change the world and help create structures that are designed to last 500 plus year. These buildings will be bug proof, fireproof, sustainable with materials sources close to any job site in the WORLD, affordable, healthy walls that are mold proof and incredibly beautiful all while using non toxic materials.
This will be the first of several projects that we will be building with rammed earth. We want to start with a shed and then build a barndominium and then a single family residence. For examples go to https://sirewall.com/. The wall systems are a sandwich of 8" rammed earth / 4" insulation / 12" rammed earth for an R value of 33+(https://www.sirewallusa.com/a-complete-wall-system). Our first project will be a simplistic shed so we can gain experience and the future projects will become more complex. The outside dimensions for this shed will be 36' x 24' - these are 24" thick walls so the inside dimensions will be 32' x 10' with a full gable end walls. We are working to create a rammed earth mix that achieves at least 3000 psi. This first project will be slab on grade.
We will be building these projects in Juab County, http://www.co.juab.ut.us/county/Planning/Index.html.
