I beam sizing
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
Hi,
We are opening up two rooms by removing an internal wall. The opening will be 4000mm and our builder has informed us today that an engineer will need to advice on the exact spec of the I beam!
He has advised us that the wall being removed is 4 inch block and supports a stud wall above and that either side of the span will need to be remaining supporting walls of 300mm each. (The roof is not resting on any internal walls - fully supported by the external walls which are typical Cornish walls approximately 2 feet thick.)
The work starts on 16th January so we need to order the beam by around 10th January.
We are based in Camborne - please can you help?! We would be so grateful if you could.
Many thanks in advance for any help you are able to give us.
Kind regards,
Rachel
