Structural Steel Take-Off & Drafting
Budget: $25 – $50 AUD
I have a set of construction-grade PDF drawings that require a precise structural steel material take-off. From those PDFs I need a clear, organised schedule of every steel member so I can price the job accurately and, if our tender is accepted, move straight into full shop-drawing production.
Scope of the take-off
Start by extracting every steel element directly from the construction drawings. Your schedule should include:
• Dimensions and sizes of each member
• Types of materials and grades
• Exact quantities, broken down per member, plate or fitting
Please return the take-off as an editable spreadsheet that cross-references sheet numbers and grid lines so I can trace any item back to the PDF instantly. Use whatever tool you prefer (Bluebeam, Planswift, Excel, Tekla Model Viewer, etc.) as long as the final file is clean and traceable.
Possible follow-on drafting package
If the numbers help us win the project, the next step will be detailed shop drawings and/or a Tekla or AutoCAD 3D model. Keep that in mind when structuring your workflow so data can flow straight into the modelling stage without rework.
What I need to see from you
Send a detailed project proposal explaining your approach, the software you’ll use, the level of checking you build in, and a short timeline. Screenshots or excerpts from similar steel take-offs or shop drawings will strengthen your pitch.
I’m ready to award quickly and would like the first pass of the material schedule within a few days of kickoff.
