Structural Engineering for Wraparound Extension
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
I'm seeking a skilled structural engineer for a wraparound extension on a ground floor flat in a Victorian terrace.
Key tasks include:
- Calculating foundations
- Sizing steel beams to support the upstairs
- Determining timber sizes for walls and flat roof (we already have an estimate of this using tables)
- Assessing requirements for fireplace removal
We prefer a timber frame construction, using steel to support the upstairs and create an open-plan area. We’re keen to not over spec it so we’re looking for what can support an efficient/possibly self-build.
Ideal candidates should have:
- Experience with Victorian/London properties
- Knowledge of timber and steel structural requirements
- Ability to work from existing architect plans
