I am looking for a structural engineer to create structural drawings to be submitted for approval to the local council for a small front porch project. The existing building is a converted stone barn with aged oak shiplap as occasional infill. The proposal is to continue the slope of the roof down on 6x2 rafters that will sit on a wall 3.5 m in length and approx 2m in height constructed of 6x2 timber with insulation infill that will tie into the existing building which is L-shaped. The porch will measure 3m x 3.5m and will be constructed using a timber frame. One end will consist of a pre-made timber frame with a front door and glazing either side and above. The opposite end will be the opening into tho the house. Consequenntly there will only be the foundations and pad, one timber wall circa 3.,m x 2m (h), a pitched tile roof (double Roman clay tiles) at crica 34degrees and a wooden frame containing frond door and glazing.
