Structural Engineer with MA license needed to certify wind speed for a gazebo
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
I need a 10'X14' gazebo to be certified up to 130 MPH wind-speed for a permit in MA (the engineer needs to be certified in MA). There's a specific gazebo that I am interested in and it comes with rough plans visible online (scroll down to the "Assembly Instructions" PDF at: https://www.backyarddiscovery.com/collections/hip-roof-gazebos/products/cordova-14x10-gazebo ).
My building department will accept the assembly instructions linked above as plans, but I just need the wind speed certified by an engineer. The manufacturer has only tested it up to 100 MPH. I'm hoping that adding hurricane ties to all rafters (in the stock option some do not have ties) and deeper anchor screws to attach it to the concrete footing (4' concrete pillars) will make the structure suitable up to 130 MPH.
Just to clarify, I'm only interested in getting the structure certified up to 130 MPH wind speeds. I do not need a full set of plans in this case (though some suggestions / details on the wind-proofing would be helpful). Lastly, I would only want to work with an engineer if they were optimistic that they can certify the structure up to 130 MPH given the above description--otherwise, there isn't a real reason to go forwards.
