Steel Walkway Design Over Silos
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 AUD
I need a fully-engineered steel walkway that spans the gap between two existing silos and ties cleanly into the plant’s current support steel. The brief is narrowly focused on the walkway itself and any new structural members required to carry it; the silos and process equipment are already in place and outside the scope.
Key parameters
• Material: all primary framing, handrail, stringers, and connections in steel.
• Walking surface: grated metal panels for drainage and slip resistance.
• Access: a stair flight integrated at one end so personnel can reach the deck without ladders or ramps.
The geometry will be confirmed with you once I supply field-verified dimensions and photos, but expect a straight run of roughly silo-to-silo length (plan drawings will follow). The design must satisfy relevant building and OSHA codes for live loads, guardrail height, stair rise/run, and corrosion protection in an outdoor industrial setting.
Deliverables (PDF and editable CAD):
1. General arrangement plan, elevation, and section views showing tie-in points to the existing structure.
2. Member sizing calculations and connection details adequate for fabrication.
3. Bolt-on stair design with grating treads and shop-welded handrails.
4. Bill of materials with member tags matching the drawings.
I can provide any additional site data you request up front so the first submittal is as close to final as possible. Please outline your software platform, expected turnaround, and whether you can supply engineer-of-record stamping for my state (helpful but not mandatory).
