Steel Stair Load Recalculation

Job ID: 40012185

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I have a permit-ready drawing set for an exterior accessory stair and deck that was originally detailed in pressure-treated lumber with traditional footings. I now want the entire assembly converted to a hollow structural-steel system that ties straight into the existing ledger with lag bolts and incorporates cross-bracing, potentially eliminating the footings altogether.

What I need most is solid engineering: complete gravity and lateral load calculations, member sizing, connection design, and any reinforcing of the ledger so the revised scheme satisfies current code. Once we fine-tune the approach, I’ll forward the existing plans, photos, and field dimensions for you to update and stamp.

Deliverables
• A sealed calculation package (PDF) covering dead, live, and wind load cases that governs this stair and deck.
• Revised structural sheets in DWG and PDF reflecting the steel members, cross-bracing, ledger connections, and any remaining footing details.
• Brief summary page highlighting design assumptions, code references, and connection hardware so the building department can track the changes easily.

Please confirm your license jurisdiction, typical turnaround, and any information you’ll need up front so we can keep this moving quickly.
