I’d like you to carry out a complete structural study for a single reinforced beam and show, in one concise package, how it performs under the specified service loads. The goal is to know two things with confidence:

• the beam’s ultimate load-carrying capacity
• the maximum deflection at mid-span and how it compares with code-permitted limits

I will supply span length, cross-section geometry, load combinations and any code I must comply with once we start. If an FEA package such as SAP2000, ANSYS, STAAD, or Robot will speed things up, feel free to use it—just attach the native model alongside clear hand or spreadsheet calculations so I can verify the results independently. Whether the beam ends up being steel, concrete or a composite section depends on the numbers you produce, so keep the workflow flexible enough to swap material properties quickly.

Deliverables (acceptance criteria)
1. Calculation file (Excel, Mathcad or hand-calc PDF) showing shear, moment, stress and deflection development step-by-step.
2. FEA model files (if used) with a brief note on element types, boundary conditions and mesh sensitivity.
3. One-page executive summary highlighting governing load case, maximum deflection, safety factors and any reinforcement or section change you recommend.
4. Screenshot or plotted diagrams of shear, moment and deflection curves.

Keep comments in the files neat, reference every equation, and flag any assumptions you introduce. Once these four items are in place and double-checked for consistency between hand work and software output, the task will be considered complete.
