I already hold the full architectural set and an initial structural package for a new single-family house here in California. What I now need is a licensed structural engineer to validate those drawings against the current California Building Code and to develop a complete structural‐calculation package that the local building department will approve.
Scope of work
The job centres on running and documenting the full suite of structural calculations—seismic, load-bearing, and wind resistance—so that every component of the house meets or exceeds CBC requirements. I expect you to review the existing structural sheets, flag any CBC discrepancies, and then generate a clear, well-organised calculation report referencing the latest CBC and accompanying standards such as ASCE 7 for seismic and wind data. Typical tools like ETABS, SAP2000, RISA, or similar are welcome; please use whatever you are most confident produces a verifiable output.
Deliverables
• Complete structural-calculation report (PDF) covering gravity, lateral, seismic, and wind loading, laid out in a building-department-friendly format
• Any red-lined or revised plan sheets required to bring the current drawings into CBC compliance
• Brief summary memo outlining key assumptions, material strengths, load paths, and any recommended plan modifications
Acceptance criteria
• Calculations reference the 2022 California Building Code throughout
• Seismic load derivations clearly trace back to ASCE 7-16
• All load combinations presented and checked; safety factors explicitly stated
• File set ready for direct submission to the city reviewer, with your professional stamp if you are registered in California
