LOOKING FOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER IN AUSTRALIA: Need written advice on load bearing capacity of Australian balconies and decks
Budget: $30 – $250 AUD
I own a small business selling pet products in Australia. One of the products we are working on is basically a large planter box full of soil and a few plants and/or turf.
I need written advice from a structural engineer stating whether balconies and decks would be able to hold the weight of these large planter boxes, based on Australian building standards?
As we would be marketing to a large range of customers, I can't give any specific details about what types of balconies or decks they may have, so advice would need to be general.
Each planter box will measure 100(L) x 80(W) x 23(H) cm, which, when filled with wet soil and plants apparently can weigh 200kg (or let's say up to 300kg in the worst case). Can one or more of these be safely placed on balconies? How many could be safely placed on one balcony?
