Mechanical Strength Analysis for Heat Exchanger
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
I am looking for a skilled mechanical or structural engineer with expertise in pressure vessel and heat exchanger design to conduct a mechanical strength analysis on a custom spiral plate heat exchanger. The primary objective is to determine the Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP) that the hydrogen channel can safely endure, taking into account real manufacturing conditions and adhering to the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code standards.
Key Details:
- The heat exchanger features a spiral design with two distinct flow channels: a high-pressure hydrogen channel and a low-pressure water channel.
- The main separating wall between the channels is constructed from SS316 stainless steel.
- The hydrogen channel wall is welded at the bottom and open at the top for hydrogen inlet.
- The water channel wall is welded at both the top and bottom.
- Wall (plate) thickness: 6 mm, Channel height: 100 mm (vertical), Channel width (spacing between plates): 10 mm, Number of spiral turns: 2
- Images of the cross-sectional view are attached.
Key Requirements:
- Perform a mechanical strength analysis in compliance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
- Clear step-by-step calculation and explanation (with all formulas used).
- Final MAWP value
Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in mechanical and structural engineering, specifically in pressure vessel and heat exchanger design.
- Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
- Ability to perform accurate mechanical strength analyses based on provided specifications.
If you have the expertise to carry out this analysis effectively, I would love to hear from you. Your insights will be invaluable in ensuring the safety and reliability of our heat exchanger design.
