Lattice Structures Creation in Rhino/Grasshopper

Job ID: 39575404

Budget: €250 – €750 EUR

The activity should focus on the use of Rhino and Grasshopper software to define a procedure able to generate lattice structures. The lattice structures should be able to be characterized by different types of unit cells, different cell sizes, variable beam thicknesses and different volume filling styles. A set of different unit cells should be included in the procedure in grasshopper to enable a quick choice between the different available options. The procedure must be able to quickly define multiple combinations of lattice structure, varying the listed parameters and by varying the number of cells arrayed along each direction of the space.

Starting with a geometry that defines the volume to be filled, the procedure must generate the internal lattice structure according to the defined parameters and provide a geometric model that can be processed (using stp files) to import it into Abaqus and perform the required static or dynamic analyses.

The procedure will be applied to the generation of a leading-edge infill structure by varying all the parameters listed above. The objective is to identify a configuration capable of optimising the structure's response to bird strikes and guaranteeing minimum mass.

In addition, the procedure can be used to generate a lattice-based structure for the whole wing by replacing the classical structural components. The objective is to identify a configuration with minimum mass and capable of ensuring adequate response to the typical static loads of wing structures.
