Framing Design Structural Review- Residential

Job ID: 38234638

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

In this project, I require an engineering evaluation of a residential building's framing design. The focal points include:

- Structural integrity: Review the layout of the design and determine how well it can withstand standard forces such as gravity, weight load, and weather conditions.
- Load capacity analysis: A comprehensive analysis of how well the design can carry the load of both predicted and unexpected weights.

The framing design is for a residential building and utilizes wood as the primary material. I'm looking forward to working with individuals or firms with expertise in residential structural engineering, a deep understanding of load capacity analyses, and a familiarity with wood as a building material. Prior experience with reviewing and scrutinizing structural designs will be advantageous.

The plan represents a build-out of an existing warehouse space. The owner wishes to create a living space in what once was a lumber yard. There is a commercial slab supporting the structure. The2x4 framing in the attached plan will be secured to the existing 2x6 framing on the external warehouse shell.

A second floor will be used for "lightweight" storage.

I am thinking of running approx 30' 12" I-joists left-right 16" OC, with the wall at approx. 14' from the right bearing the load plus a 2-ply 9 1/2" LVL beam spanning the "hallway" opening between kitchen and bedroom (upper right corner).

Is is this particular piece of the project I am looking for guidance on.

Thanks
