Church Doors Structural Code Review
Budget: $100 – $250 USD
I have already purchased a set of custom double doors for our church from an out-of-state fabricator and received a complete CAD package for the frames, panels, hardware and anchoring details. Before the shipment goes into production, I must have a licensed structural engineer review those drawings solely for compliance with Hillsborough County and Florida Building Code requirements, then prepare and submit the signed-and-sealed documents the county asks for.
You will not need to inspect the physical doors; every dimension, material call-out and connection detail is included in the CAD files (DWG and PDF). What I need is your professional review, any mark-ups or revisions necessary to satisfy local codes, and the final engineer-of-record submittal so the county issues its approval without delay.
Key deliverables
• Red-lined or revised CAD drawing set addressing any code issues
• Signed and sealed compliance letter (or equivalent report) ready for county upload
• Completion of Hillsborough County permit filing, including any follow-up RFI responses until approval is granted
A current Florida P.E. (structural) registration is essential because the county will not accept out-of-state seals. Familiarity with the portions of the Florida Building Code that govern exterior doors, wind-borne debris regions, and egress is strongly preferred. Turnaround is time-sensitive; once the review package is accepted, the manufacturer can move forward.
