STM32 Low-Power Firmware Consultant

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I’m looking for a seasoned STM32 developer who can take full ownership of the firmware layer on our newest board. The immediate priority is squeezing every micro-amp out of the design, so demonstrable low-power optimisation experience on STM32 parts is non-negotiable.

You’ll be writing and refining C/C++ code in STM32CubeIDE, bringing up peripherals such as UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, ADC, PWM and USB, and validating real-time behaviour under FreeRTOS (or a comparable RTOS if you have strong reasons to recommend one). A solid grasp of bootloader strategy is welcome, but the key metric for success is a rock-solid low-power profile across all operating modes.

Close collaboration with our hardware engineers is part of the day-to-day: you’ll probe signals with ST-Link, J-Link, an oscilloscope and a logic analyser, trace elusive bugs, and propose firmware-level tweaks that help the electronics team refine the design before we lock for production. I expect clean, maintainable code, concise documentation and proactive guidance when you spot architectural issues or production-line pitfalls.

Deliverables I need from you:
• Production-ready firmware and HAL drivers
• A brief power-consumption report showing measurements in run, sleep and standby modes, with the steps you took to reach them
• A short code-review summary highlighting future-proofing recommendations
• Remote debug support through the first manufacturing run
