Stata Expert for Multi-Year ASI Data Merging (India) -- 2
Budget: ₹600 – ₹1,500 INR
I am looking for a data analyst or econometrician proficient in Stata to merge Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) data across multiple years and multiple blocks (e.g., Block A, Block B, Block C, etc.). The final output should be a clean, structured dataset in either Panel Data or Repeated Cross-Section format.
I already have existing Stata .do files that contain the logic for merging. Your primary task will be to adapt, debug, and run these scripts on my specific raw data files to ensure a seamless merge.
Scope of Work
- Data Preparation: Clean and prepare raw ASI data files (likely in .dta or fixed-width format) for multiple years.
- Block Merging: Merge various blocks within each year (e.g., linking identification blocks with output/input blocks).
- Temporal Merging: Append/Merge data across years, ensuring variable concordance (handling changes in variable names or definitions over time).
- Panel Construction: Create a panel using unique identifiers (like DSL/PSL or state/factory codes) where consistent tracking is possible.
- Validation: Ensure there are no duplicate observations and that the merge has been executed correctly using Stata log files.
Required Skills
- Expert-level proficiency in Stata.
- Prior experience working specifically with Indian ASI (Annual Survey of Industries) data.
- Understanding of NIC (National Industrial Classification) codes is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail regarding data types, weights (multiplier), and missing values.
Deliverables
- Final cleaned dataset in .dta format.
- Modified/Updated .do files used for the process.
- A brief summary/log file showing the observation counts before and after the merge.
