Historical statistical analysis

I am researching an occupational population in the sixteenth and seventeenth-century and need some pointers on statistical tests of significance. Ideally I am looking for an academic with a phd who has experience of the application of statistical methods to problems in social history. I also need some instruction in the correct application of some statistical procedures such as chi-squared tests
