Construction of social network variables/measures from a patent dataset

Hi. This is Rajat here and I am a professor at a university in the US. I have a patent dataset with several variables. I need to construct new variables using some calculations. Are you comfortable working with social network data in python or any other software? The variables I need to construct are related to social networks.
