Project Title: Hauling Process Simulation for Mining Operations
I am seeking an expert in Arena simulation to help me simulate the hauling process within a mining operation. The goal is to model the existing conditions and identify potential inefficiencies, such as idle times and shift overlaps, and optimize the hauling process by incorporating various parameters.
Requirements:
* Proficiency in using Arena simulation software
* Experience in simulating logistics or hauling processes in mining or similar industries
* Strong understanding of statistical modeling, process flow optimization, and time management
* Ability to model multiple variables such as operator shifts, rest areas, and truck routes
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Responsibilities:
* Collaborate to understand the specific hauling process, including the shift schedules, rest areas, and truck routes.
* Develop and implement a simulation model in Arena based on the provided parameters, such as:
* Two-shift system with operator transitions at CSA 1 and CSA 2
* Truck routes between pit and port, with different rest area locations (CSA 1 at km 27 and CSA 2 at km 46)
* Idle time analysis at CSA when shift changes overlap or when operators have to wait
* Truck assignments, load/unload times at the port, and potential ROM storage handling
* Shift optimization for operator handovers at CSA points, with consideration of route timings
* Analyze the simulation model to identify bottlenecks such as idle times at CSA, misalignment between shift end times and truck movements, and optimize the shift handovers.
* Provide recommendations to reduce idle time and improve the operational efficiency of the hauling process.
* Generate detailed reports and visualizations of simulation results for process improvement recommendations.
Key Assumptions:
* Distance from pit to port: 87 km with logical intermediate distances for loading points and docking points
* Operators can only start/end shifts at CSA 1 or CSA 2, based on their home locations
* Truck assignments to different pits and ports are made based on availability at those locations (not random)
* Truck journeys can be redirected to ROM storage when port docking points are full
* Time analysis of loading/unloading is set to 30 minutes for each process
* Travel times from pit to port and back are estimated to range between 2 to 3 hours
