Logistic Regression Analysis
Budget: $10 – $30 USD
• Objective: use logistic regression to determine the win % of a team before every snap of the game (each line of the data is a different snap)
• The data set includes play by play data for college football teams.
• At any given time, there is an offensive and defensive team
• The logistic regression will be used to determine the win % of the offensive team
• The win % of the defense will be (1-offense win %)
• Example: offense has a win % of 55.55%, the defense will have a win % of (1 -.5555 = .4445)
• The data set has four years of data: 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022
• I’d like to use the years 2018, 2019, 2021 to create the logistic regression formula
• I’d like to test the logistic regression formula using the 2022 season data
• The categories I’d like to use in the logistic regression formula is as follows:
o Column D = home team
o Column E = away team
o Column F = offense team score
o Column G = defense team score
o Column L = Period of game
o Column M = Minutes remaining in period of game
o Column N = seconds of minutes remaining in period of game
o Column O = yard line of the ball before the play starts
o Column P = Yards to go to goaline
o Column Q = Down
o Column R = distance for first down
• Please do not delete any of the other columns in the dataset
• I’d like a graph to see how the logistic regression equation performs against the 2022 data
• I’d also like an equation (to insert into other databases) that encloses the logistic regression formula.
o I’m quite bad with computer stuff so the simpler you can make the entering of the equation into other databases, the better
Each year of data (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022) has 15 weeks of data. I have attached 1 week of data from one season as an example of the dataset.
If you're interested in working on the project, please give me an expected quote for the work. This is all the information I have so the quote should be as accurate as possible.
