Excel Categorical Data Analysis

I have a workbook filled entirely with categorical variables and I need clear, statistically-sound insights pulled straight from Excel. The job centres on two tasks: first, produce a full frequency distribution for every category so I can see how often each label occurs; second, run the appropriate chi-square tests to reveal any significant associations between key variables.

Alongside the numbers, I want the story told visually with a clean heatmap that instantly highlights the strongest relationships uncovered by the chi-square results. The heatmap has to be built inside Excel—Power Query, PivotTables, conditional formatting or any add-in you prefer is fine, as long as the final file opens and updates seamlessly without external links.

Deliverables
• One Excel file containing:
 – Frequency tables for all categorical fields
 – Chi-square output (test statistic, p-value and interpretation)
 – An interactive heatmap driven by the analysis
• A brief, on-sheet note or separate tab describing the steps taken so I can replicate or audit the work later.

I’ll consider the work complete when I can refresh the workbook, see the tables update correctly and verify that the chi-square calculations match Excel’s built-in CHISQ.TEST results.
