Healthcare management in hospitals has always been a challenge. And the recent Covid-19
pandemic uncovered the severity of this situation. Healthcare analytics helps healthcare
managers to analyse various cases and aid in their decision making. However, there is an
urgent need to better manage various hospital facilities.
Patients’ length of stay is one of the key parameters to consider for an effective healthcare
management in hospitals. And predicting this parameter at the time of admission would have
hospitals identify patients of high length of stay risk. As a Data Analyst, you are required to
build a predictive analytic model that would predict patients’ length of stay. A dataset and
data dictionary has been provided for this assessment (the data is gotten from Kaggle).
You will use Alteryx to analyse the data and build the predictive model. The cross-industrial
standard process for data mining (CRISP-DM) methodology provides a structured approach
and sequence of events for planning a data mining project (this is the fundamental of this
course and will be extensively discussed in class). Your analysis should be structured using
the CRISP-DM process (see the coursework information below).
