About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Grafana Developer to design, build, and optimize dashboards and visualizations for key operational and business metrics. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, integrating diverse data sources, implementing alerting/monitoring, and ensuring dashboard performance and reliability—all while working onsite in Saudi Arabia for the duration of the engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Dashboard Design & Development
Architect and develop Grafana dashboards for infrastructure, application performance, business KPIs, and operational monitoring.
Create reusable panels, variables, templating, and multi-tenanted dashboard structures.
Implement drill-downs, annotations, and role-based access to support different stakeholder views.
Data Source Integration
Connect and configure common data sources (e.g., Prometheus, Loki, Elastic/Elasticsearch, InfluxDB, MySQL/PostgreSQL, Azure Monitor, CloudWatch, OpenSearch), ELK knowledge and zabbix datasources
Optimize queries (PromQL, LogQL, SQL) for performance and accuracy.
Alerting & Observability
Set up alert rules, notification channels (email, Slack/Teams, PagerDuty, Opsgenie), and escalation policies.
Collaborate with SRE/DevOps teams to strengthen observability across logs, metrics, and traces.
Performance & Security
Tune Grafana performance, caching, data source query limits, and reduce panel load times.
Implement RBAC, data source permissions, folder structures, and comply with organizational security standards.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
Produce documentation (dashboard usage, data mappings, alert playbooks).
Conduct workshops and handover sessions for internal teams.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Translate business requirements into meaningful visualizations, acceptance criteria, and SLA-backed monitoring.
Required Qualifications & Skills
3–6+ years of experience in Grafana dashboarding and observability.
Strong hands-on with Prometheus/PromQL, Loki/LogQL, Elastic/Elasticsearch/KQL, and SQL.
Experience integrating Grafana with common backends (Prometheus, Loki, Elastic, InfluxDB, RDBMS, cloud monitors).
Proficiency in Grafana Alerting, variables, templating, transformations, and advanced panels.
Understanding of time-series data, performance tuning, and dashboard UX best practices.
Familiarity with DevOps/SRE workflows, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure monitoring.
Solid grasp of RBAC, secrets management, and secure configurations.
Excellent communication and documentation skills; ability to work onsite with cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-Have
Experience with Grafana Enterprise features (SSO, reporting, fine-grained permissions).
Knowledge of Kubernetes/Helm, Terraform, or Ansible for provisioning Grafana and data sources.
Exposure to APM tools (Jaeger/Tempo, OpenTelemetry).
Cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP) & platform-specific monitors.
Prior experience working in Saudi Arabia or GCC region.
Engagement Details
Duration: 2–3 months (extendable based on project needs).
Onsite Requirement: Full-time onsite in Saudi Arabia.
