Stepwise regression and validity test

I need help verifying running a correct stepwise regression test in SPSS and an appropriate validity test for just one research question only. I passed my oral defense, but committee wants better substantiation on one particular test and they want an appropriate validity test run. I have three data sets, but only one is really important (the Dow 30 data set).
