Improve Goodness of Fit for Survey Data

I am conducting research and have survey data that I need analyzed to improve the Goodness of Fit Index (GFI) to over 0.9.
Experience with SPSS is crucial as it is the software I am using. Prior work with regression analysis is a plus, as I've already performed that on my data. The data primarily consists of categorical variables.
