Optimize Java Microservices Backend

Our platform already runs on Java 17 with Spring Boot–based micro-services, Hibernate, and a SQL backend. The codebase is stable in production, yet the current architecture leaves performance on the table.

I need hands-on help specifically with two areas:
1. Database optimisation – profiling slow queries, refactoring the data model where sensible, tuning indexes, and reducing connection-pool contention.
2. Micro-services setup – revisiting service boundaries, tightening inter-service communication, and packaging everything for smooth CI/CD rollout.

You will be working inside an Agile workflow (Git, Maven, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes), so every change must pass automated tests and integrate cleanly into our existing pipeline.

Acceptance criteria
• 30 % or better reduction in average query latency on the SQL cluster (measured with our JMeter suite).
• All refactored services compile under Java 17, pass unit/integration tests, and deploy via our Helm charts without manual tweaks.
• Updated technical documentation explaining new entity relationships and service interaction diagrams.
