Ground Box & Steel Cover Design

3D Model Creation
o Model the ground box and steel cover, ensuring all key components are included
(hinges, locking mechanism, handles, etc.).
o Utilize the Sheet Metal feature for any bent or folded parts.
o Use the Weldment feature where structural profiles or welded components are
needed.
o Assume any missing dimensions logically based on standard design practices.
2. Assembly & Constraints
o Assemble all parts in SolidWorks and apply the appropriate mates and constraints.
o Ensure that the cover opens and closes properly in the assembly environment.
3. Engineering Drawings & Documentation
o Create a fully detailed 2D drawing with assembling dimensions as well as detailed
part dimensions and weld symbols
o Include bill of materials (BOM) and Cut list Table listing all components.
o Provide section and detail views where necessary.
4. Design Approach & Assumptions Document
o Provide a written document (300-500 words) explaining:
o Your design approach and thought process.
o Any assumptions made due to missing dimensions.
o Justification for the choice of weldments and sheet metal features.
o Challenges faced and how they were addressed.
