Gas Turbine Gearbox Design Project

Job ID: 33075935

Budget: £250 – £750 GBP

Design of a 2-stage reduction gearbox for a gas turbine using commercially available hardened spur gears with a simple machined-from billet housing. A belt or chain drive will be taken off one side of the output shaft of the gearbox with a disc brake on the other side.
Output shaft from turbine : Inch 23/32" - Metric 18.25625mm. Thinking of using tolerance rings on shaft to be able to use 20mm bore hybrid ceramic bearings. Centre shaft & output shaft can use standard quality bearings. Oil to gears and bearings will be pressure fed and scavenged with an oil cooler in the circuit.
Output shaft rpm : 46,000 rpm (max)
Target reduction ratio : 5.333:1
Target final rpm : 8625 rpm
Possible first stage : 25 tooth to 60 tooth MOD 2.5
Possible second stage : 18 tooth to 40 tooth MOD 3.0

Design should allow easy replacement of gears and bearings every few hours of running
