CNC Mold Creation for Wax Cylinders
Budget: €30 – €250 EUR
Project creation for the production of a mold using CNC. The mold will be used for the production of wax cylinders. The wax will be poured into the mold. The project should be usable for CNC machining on Xometry (STEP, STP, etc.). As a starting point for the project, I have photos of the wax cylinder that needs to be created through the mold and a drawing with measurements. An idea of how the mold will appear can be seen in the linked video.
Key Points of the Project
Mold Production: The project involves creating a mold using CNC machining.
Purpose: The mold is intended for producing wax cylinders.
Material Process: Wax will be poured into the finished mold to create the cylinders.
File Format: The project files need to be compatible with Xometry's CNC machining services, using formats such as STEP or STP.
Reference Materials:
Photos of the desired wax cylinder
Drawing with measurements

Considerations for CNC Mold Design
When designing the mold for CNC machining, consider the following aspects:
Material Selection: Choose an appropriate material for the mold that can withstand repeated wax pouring and solidification cycles.
Parting Line: Design a suitable parting line to allow easy removal of the wax cylinder after solidification.
Draft Angles: Incorporate proper draft angles to facilitate the release of the wax cylinder from the mold.
Cooling Channels: Consider including cooling channels in the mold design to control the solidification process of the wax.
Surface Finish: Specify the required surface finish for the mold cavity to achieve the desired texture on the wax cylinder.
Tolerances: Define appropriate tolerances for critical dimensions to ensure consistency in the produced wax cylinders.
To proceed with the project, you should use CAD software to create a 3D model of the mold based on the provided measurements and photos. Once the design is complete, export it in a format compatible with Xometry's CNC machining services, such as STEP or STP. This will allow you to submit the project for manufacturing and obtain your custom-designed mold for wax cylinder production.
