CAD Engineering Technical Writer - not an Entry Level position
Budget: $15 – $25 USD
Our tasks include updating website content and writing technical blogs. In reality, this is a never-ending project. However, note - we are in a very technical industry, and our customers build satellites, missiles, aircraft, and other large DoD items. The writer must understand - we did not say use as per se' - but understand Catia - Siemens NX - PTC Creo - and Solidworks. You must also know what AM and DfAM even are. If you do, let us chat. We do not wish a highly technical paper on a subject, but something a builder of satellites might read in SME or Aircraft Design publications.
An ideal user is the company/guy who uses Catia to build mechanical or Aerospace items. CAD / CAM Services is in the business of providing high-end 3D CAD Engineering Services.
This is a 10-30+ task per week, with the time based on you more so than us. Most of our users are mechanical or aerospace engineers - and should be written for them.
Most of our business is in the US, so the writing style is US only, written in good American English. Details to follow. The top three will be given a (paid) test on a technical subject to write about (subjects like Point Clouds, Generative Design, AM, Solidworks design, etc.)
We will have a hidden trick up our sleeve to assist you. We subscribe to SEMrush.com. SEMrush has an outstanding Content Writing guide - it shows you what to write about, what keywords to use, how long it should be, etc. This is provided free, of course, for each page or subject desired. We have 200+ poorly written blogs that need to be fixed or redone. We are bringing a large metal printer company into the US and need all of the manufacturer's web pages rewritten for SEO reasons. CAD / CAM will have the website brought over, but you would get to rewrite each page to pass any duplicate content SEO concerns. Of course, we have rights for all of this to use as we see fit. We should have this and 100 blog topics, but we don't have them written yet. So we have a specific and mapped-out starting place for you already. Your work should be written in good US English, with good grammar and spell check, appropriate graphics as needed, etc. Your submitted work should be clean so that we can post this directly.
All work should pass any concerns about SEO checking (free software for you, of course). What you write should SEO well. Again, SEMrush will assist a great deal with any SEO efforts. We are not expecting you to be an SEO expert - that is our job, but we expect you to use the tools provided.
This is a funded and ready-to-start project yesterday. Let us see a sample of your already published work as a starting place. An example of a SEMrush template for an appropriate subject is attached for your reference.
Pay, hours, and the specific task list will all be discussed on your level of understanding and writing skills. Generally, we would have a short 10-15 minute video chat 1x a week to ensure we are on track.
We look forward to hearing from you. Our website for your reference is cadcam.org.
