1 MW Solar Data Center Feasibility

Job ID: 40628511

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I’m looking for a thorough feasibility study that shows whether a one-megawatt, AI-focused data centre can operate entirely off-grid using a dedicated solar array and lithium-ion battery storage. The core question is financial viability, with Return on Investment as the headline metric, so every technical recommendation must tie back to clear numbers.

What I need from you
• A right-sized solar generation profile: annual production estimates, panel footprint, degradation assumptions, and any seasonal shortfalls I should plan for.
• An optimised lithium-ion storage design that balances depth-of-discharge, lifecycle cost, and replacement timing, complete with an indicative battery layout.
• A financial model (CAPEX, OPEX, residual value) that rolls those technical inputs into ROI projections under best-, base- and worst-case energy pricing scenarios.
• Sensitivity analysis on key levers such as panel efficiency gains, battery price declines, and potential revenue from excess solar.
• A concise risk register covering supply-chain constraints, regulatory incentives, and technology obsolescence.

Format & tools
Spreadsheet or modelling software of your choice is fine—Excel, Google Sheets, or Python notebooks all work as long as formulas remain transparent. Accompany the numbers with a narrative report (PDF or DOCX) summarising assumptions, methodologies, and next steps.

Acceptance criteria
1. ROI calculation matches the assumptions shown in the technical model.
2. Solar and storage sizing supports a continuous 1 MW IT load with at least 15% headroom.
3. All data sources and efficiency figures are properly cited.

If you have recent experience designing off-grid solar plus battery systems for mission-critical loads—or have already modelled ROI for renewable-powered data centres—let’s talk.
