Seeking Senior Software Architect / Fractional CTO / Product Engineering Consultant for Commercial Excel Software Distribution Platform.
We are developing a commercial platform for distributing and selling advanced Excel/VBA-based business and accounting tools. The Excel systems themselves are already being developed internally and are NOT the primary focus of this position. We are NOT seeking a basic Excel macro programmer.
The primary objective of this project is to architect and build the surrounding commercial software ecosystem required to securely distribute, license, protect, authenticate, update, manage, and commercialize downloadable Excel-based desktop software products.
We are seeking a highly experienced Software Architect, Fractional CTO, Technical Product Consultant, or specialized software engineering firm capable of designing and implementing the infrastructure around the Excel products, including areas such as:
• desktop software packaging and deployment
• download/install systems
• licensing and intellectual property protection
• anti-copy and security systems
• cloud authentication and license validation
• subscription/payment integration
• user account systems
• website/e-commerce integration
• software update/version management
• API/cloud integration
• scalable software distribution architecture
• long-term modernization and product scalability planning
The goal is to create a professional software ecosystem where end users can:
• purchase software online
• create accounts
• download and install desktop products
• authenticate and activate licenses
• receive updates
• securely use the products on their own systems while maintaining centralized licensing control and protecting the underlying intellectual property.
This is NOT a simple freelance coding project. We are seeking a senior-level technical leader or highly qualified boutique engineering team with experience building and commercializing real software products.
Required Qualifications:
• Experience architecting commercial software products
• Experience with licensing/authentication systems
• Experience with desktop software distribution
• Experience with SaaS/cloud-connected applications
• Strong understanding of software security and IP protection
• Experience with Microsoft ecosystem technologies
• Ability to advise on long-term software architecture and scalability
• Experience leading technical projects and/or assembling engineering teams
