Fortune POS - Retail Management Software

Job ID: 40613139

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

am looking to develop Fortune POS, a modern, commercial-grade Point of Sale (POS) system for small and medium-sized businesses. The objective is to build a complete retail management solution that is reliable, secure, fast, and easy to use in real business environments while providing a modern user experience and a scalable architecture for future growth. This is intended to be a production-ready software product that businesses can purchase and use as their primary retail management system.

The application must be a genuine Windows desktop application (.exe) and not a browser-based web application. It must be designed as an offline-first system, meaning all core POS operations must function fully without an internet connection using a local database. This includes sales processing, inventory management, reporting, and all day-to-day retail operations.

However, because the system is subscription-based and may include cloud services, the software must also support optional and periodic internet connectivity for license verification, software updates, cloud backups, and future online features. The system should be designed so that temporary or short-term internet outages do not interrupt business operations, and users can continue trading normally while offline.

The system should provide complete retail management functionality, including product management, inventory management, stock level monitoring, barcode scanning, barcode generation, sales processing, quotations, purchase orders, supplier ordering, goods receiving, stock adjustments, stock transfers, stock takes, supplier management, customer management, customer accounts, loyalty support, discounts, promotions, returns, refunds, exchanges, multiple payment methods, cash management, receipt printing, invoice printing, tax configuration, user roles and permissions, audit logs, shift management, dashboard analytics, sales reporting, inventory reporting, purchase reporting, profit reporting, backup and restore functionality, business settings, and all other functionality expected from a professional desktop POS system.

The software should support common retail hardware including barcode scanners, receipt printers, cash drawers, weighing scales, customer displays, and other standard POS peripherals where applicable.

The architecture is one of the most important requirements. The software should be modular, secure, maintainable, and designed for long-term scalability. While Version 1 should already function as a complete commercial POS system, the architecture must allow additional modules to be added in the future without requiring the software to be rebuilt or existing customers to migrate to another POS system. Future enhancements will include accounting, advanced analytics, cloud services, mobile applications, AI-powered forecasting, third-party integrations, secure REST APIs, and additional business management functionality.

The codebase should follow modern software engineering best practices, with clean architecture, proper documentation, and maintainable code. Upon completion, I require full ownership of the project, including the complete source code, database scripts, API documentation, architecture documentation, build files, installation and deployment instructions, and all intellectual property associated with the software. The final product should be production-ready, commercially deployable, and suitable for live retail environments.
