What is self storage:
Self-storage is an industry that rents storage space, also known as "storage units," to tenants. Self-storage tenants include businesses and individuals. To store their various types of stuff such as household goods for individuals, or storing commercial items for businesses as warehouse to store their different products. Some types of storage units are to be utilized to store a specific type of items such as medical instruments or medical drugs, or documents storage units to store files and records in a specific condition that keep them save. In addition, there are some other storage types to store vehicles and motorcycles. All above mentioned units and storage purposes are just examples and not limited to. Self-storage company may also sell related storage items to existing tenants or drop-in customers such as boxes, tapes, locks, car cover, etc.
Purpose
The purpose for this RFP is to request a customized solution to develop a responsive web application (with mobile application in a later stage) for a self-storage company to fully automate self-storage rental process and tenants’ access to units. The process starts on the website or the application by the visitor or the user to check available units for rent, or products or any other services listed on the website/app for purchase.
For renting a unit (will be explained in details in this document): user selects the required unit from available units list > then he should select addon’s (such as physical products or services such as insurance) if applicable > fills in all required information > complete digital identity verification process > pay for the rent/items on the cart > receives a digital key on his email/mobile to access the unit with keyless access (on renting unit only).
Above mentioned description includes and not limited to:
• Display and available units and features
• Display and sell merchandise items
• Display and sell addons to rents, this includes merchandise items and other addons based on rented unit such as insurance, electrical power billed to the tenant by usage or special climate control temperature, cleaning services or other non-physical items.
• Automate access control to units, floors and buildings. For tenants to receive their digital key on mobile or to set a pin code to access units directly upon completion of rental process and manage this access to lock units lock on over due payment.
