Cattle Yard Gate Control for Weight classes
Budget: $15 – $25 AUD
Using part the output string from a Gallagher weighing device a hydraulic gate control directs the cattle according to their weight class.
The process will require a Rasp pi relay shield to respond to the Gallagher data string to actuate the hydraulic solenoid which opens a gate according to cattle weight class. The number of gates and hydraulic actuators is currently 4 gates.
Once the hydraulic gate is opened, the cattle walk through and a light beam will indicate when the gate is closed behind the animal.
In addition, there may be a common gate (headlock crush) that is also opened and closed at the front of a pen (race) for each of the animals to pass through, which provides control of the rate the animals walk through the race.
The weigh classes may vary as operator inputs
This is an evolving project.
