A four-module information system is needed to perform the following functions:
1. Order Management Module.
- Allows automated recording of basic information about a new customer.
- It allows the automated recording of information related to the customer's order.
- Sends the stored information to the Warehouse Management and Product Production Management modules each time the customer places an order and these in turn send the information required to estimate the delivery time of the order.
- Stores basic customer information along with the orders placed by them in a database.
- Generates reports of the list of customers and their respective orders when requested.
2. Warehouse Management Module
- It allows to register in an automated way the finished products that enter and leave each warehouse.
- It allows to register in an automated way the supplies that enter and leave each warehouse.
- It compares the information in its database with the information provided by the order management and product production management modules to know if it is necessary to request inputs from suppliers or not and if what the customer requested is among the finished products stored in the warehouse.
- Stores the information of the movements of inputs and products in a database.
- Generates a purchase order for supplies each time it reaches the minimum stock level in the warehouse.
- Generates reports of the quantity of inputs and finished products in the warehouse when they are requested.
3. Product Production Management Module
- Allows automated registration of all the information related to the new product.
- It allows to register in an automated way all the information related to each product that is going to be elaborated.
- It makes a comparison of its information in databases with the information sent by the order management and warehouse management modules to know which products should be produced.
- Stores all the information of each product produced and to be produced in a database.
- Generate reports of new products and the quantity of products that have been produced for orders when they are needed.
4. Accounting Module
- It allows to register in an automated way all the information related to the accounting movements.
- It processes and organizes the information entered to generate reports and receives the reports from the other modules to be used as accounting supports.
- Saves all accounting movements and their respective supports in a database.
- Generates financial and accounting reports when necessary.
