Develop endpoint agent communication

We have developed endpoint agents that install on WIndows/Linux OS. The endpoint agent gathers data and sends data upstream. The data we are focused on for this project is the syslogs/event data. This data is used to monitor the system. We want the ability for the agent to monitor a file to determine what paths are monitored for syslogs. The smarts should also allow for filters to drop any logs based on regular expressions that are not desired for monitoring.
The file could have with the path of "/var/log/secure" and the agent would pick up these changes and montior that file location and forward over the syslogs/events. We would need to do this for both Windows and Linux agent. NDA will be required for this project.
