Barcode-Enabled Document Tracking Webapp

Job ID: 40174694

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

I need a secure, browser-based system that keeps live tabs on every hard-copy document moving through our projects. The core of the job is to build a web application that lets me bulk-upload existing records—document number, description, project area, primary owner, vendor and authorised usernames—then follow each document’s journey with a simple scan.

Key flow
• Documents are already numbered and bar-coded before they hit the shelf.
• They sit in a central depository until a Standard user checks them out.
• That same user can re-assign a document to someone else on the fly, all from the web interface.

Required functionality
• Bulk import via CSV/Excel.
• Seamless barcode scanner integration so one scan identifies both the document and the user holding it.
• Real-time tracking of current owner and document status, with automatic date/time stamps for every hand-off.
• One-click export to Excel for audits or BI dashboards.

The application will run with a single “Standard user” role for now; admin features can stay minimal or behind the scenes, as long as the main user experience is clean. If you have suggestions for adding metadata capture later, keep the structure flexible.

Robustness and security are non-negotiable. I can walk you through a Base44 proof-of-concept and share a full statement of work once we agree on approach and technology stack.

Deliver a working web app, source code, and a brief hand-over guide and I’ll take it from there.
