Assistance to design software library around compression & decompression of timeseries data
Budget: $25 – $50 AUD
I am looking for assistance towards designing and engineering an application specific library which will perform compression and decompression operations on timeseries data.
The aim is to develop a library which covers the following requirements
• Can be consumed by .NET
• Can be compiled to WASM and consumed by javascript
• Compresses and decompresses timeseries data
• Can compress timeseries data as a stream rather than as blocks
• Can compress integers & floating point values
• Produces a compressed binary stream of the uncompressed timeseries stream
• Produces a temporal index of the compressed data also as a compressed stream
• Selects an optimum compression algorithim based on parameters which describe the timeseries
• Uses the index as a means to efficiently query for a temporal window from the compressed stream
• Decompresses either a full stream or temporal window of compressed data back to the original timeseries
• Utilises existing established compression algorithims, software or technologies where possible
I have extensively researched the possible approaches and existing technologies that could be combined together to form a solution. However I'm a point where I need assistance to resolve some unknowns that are outside my capability and work towards an adequate enough scope and design that could then be turned into a project for implementation.
I feel the optimum person/s to assist would have the following attributes
• Experience in C language
• Experience with .NET & Javascript
• Knowledge or experience with WASM
• Significant experience in designing & architecting software libraries
• Experience with compression algorithms, preferably in the Integer and Floating point space
• Is looking for a small project on the side of their day to day gig
• Has experience and appreciation for getting startup projects off the ground
• Considerate of new ideas rather than biased from past knowledge
• Able to stay focused on the end game and not getting lost in the weeds
• Enjoys collaborating, and is agile to change tact when needed
The intent here is not to actually write the library but form a sufficient design detail so that a secondary job can be initiated to implement the library.
I am personally funding this project out of my own pocket, and therefore will be actively involved in the path this project takes so it can be kept as lean as possible.
