Social Media Assistant for Cycling Club

The Canberra Cycling Club is seeking a reliable and proactive Social Media Assistant (freelance/contractor) to help manage and grow our presence on Facebook and Instagram.

This role is key to promoting our sponsors, engaging our community, and supporting the success of our events and members.

Key Responsibilities

Create and publish engaging posts for Facebook and Instagram to promote sponsors, upcoming events, and club news.

Post race results and celebrate member achievements.

Design and share visually appealing images using our extensive library of member photos and content.

Issue regular volunteer callouts to support club activities.

Monitor and manage our feeds, sharing relevant member news and cycling highlights.

Respond to member messages or requests at least twice per week.

Communicate and coordinate with the CCC Committee Social Media Manager to ensure messaging aligns with club priorities and standards.

Requirements

Strong understanding of Facebook and Instagram best practices.

Ability to create visually engaging posts using Canva or similar tools (we provide photos).

Clear, positive writing style with excellent attention to detail.

Self-motivated, reliable, and able to meet deadlines without close supervision.

Comfortable collaborating with a volunteer Social Media Manager and the club committee.

Familiarity with cycling, sporting clubs, or community organisations is a plus (but not essential).

Hours & Availability

Flexible hours — typically a few hours per week.

Must be available to:

Check and respond on our platforms at least twice a week.

Receive and respond to direction from the club’s Social Media Manager at least twice a week.
