Marketing Strategy & Execution for New Dance Studio (Kansas City)
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
Project Description:
We are launching a new competitive dance studio in the Kansas City metro area and are looking for an experienced marketer to help us build awareness and drive early enrollment for our first season.
This is a critical Year 1 launch. Our goal is to attract dancers and families now, establish a strong foundation, and position the studio for significant growth in Year 2.
We recently completed a full website rebuild, so the foundation is strong. This project is less about website optimization and more about driving traffic, building trust, and converting interest into signups.
Project Phases:
Phase I: Pre-Launch (Now – Mid July)
Focus on:
Building awareness and credibility before opening
Generating interest, inquiries, and pre-enrollment
Communicating a clear and compelling vision of the studio
Supporting any pop-up classes or early events
Phase II: Post-Launch (Mid July and Beyond)
Focus on:
Ongoing lead generation and enrollment growth
Paid ads management and optimization
Social/content strategy execution
Retention and community building
Scaling marketing efforts as the studio grows
This project will begin with Phase I, with the opportunity to continue into Phase II based on performance.
Additional Context (Pre-Launch Reality):
Our physical studio will not be fully operational until mid-July, so marketing must effectively promote a vision and experience that families cannot fully see yet.
Additional Consideration (Confidentiality):
Many dancers we are targeting are currently training at other studios and may not be ready to publicly explore new opportunities until after their current season (including nationals) is complete.
Because of this, our marketing approach must:
Feel safe, low-pressure, and respectful
Encourage private inquiries and conversations
Build trust without putting dancers or families in an uncomfortable position
We are looking for someone who understands how to market in a way that is discreet, relationship-aware, and trust-driven.
Project Scope:
Local marketing strategy (Kansas City metro focus)
Messaging and positioning to differentiate from established studios
Social media direction (Instagram + Facebook)
Paid ads strategy (Meta/Google)
Lead generation (inquiries, interest lists, auditions, pre-enrollment)
Funnel optimization (awareness → inquiry → signup)
Key Challenge:
Many dancers and families have been at their current studio for years, so switching is a major decision. We need marketing that builds trust, creates excitement, and makes trying something new feel worth it—without being overly aggressive or pushy.
Ideal Freelancer:
Experience with dance studios, gymnastics gyms, or youth activity businesses (strongly preferred)
Proven results with local/service-based marketing
Understands the mindset of dance parents and competitive dancers
Strong messaging skills (not generic or overly “salesy”)
Comfortable working in situations where confidentiality and timing sensitivity are important
Data-driven and able to track performance and adjust strategy
Deliverables (Initial Phase):
Marketing strategy + positioning recommendations
Suggested ad strategy and budget allocation
Content direction (what to post and why)
Funnel recommendations to improve conversions
Please include:
Relevant experience (especially dance/gymnastics/youth programs)
Examples of past work or results
A brief outline of how you would approach marketing a pre-launch studio without a fully open facility yet
How you would build trust with families who may be hesitant to leave their current studio
