Lions Eyes

The Dyckesville Lions Club Foundation wants to develop a website to solicit funds for researching new vision screening technology. Our goal is to help children see effectively for learning. According to the US Center for Disease Control (CDC), vision problems are the single most prevalent disabling condition among American children. Almost 12.5 million school-aged children may be unable to see properly in the classroom. The current technology for vision screening in school-age children is the manually administered 150-year-old visual acuity chart which is largely subjective. It is time-consuming, and many times administered poorly. There are new technologies available that are objective and only takes seconds to administer. These new technologies have not been embraced by Schools, and Public Health departments because there is no research supporting their usage. Our goal is to provide that research so we can eventually screen every child every year. We have a team of volunteers working on the fundraising and prepared documents, videos testimonials, etc., and now need to begin developing our social media platform which is centered on the development of our website. We are looking for help from a web developer. Our website must be dynamic with embedded video testimonials and links to various stories with links to other websites supporting the stories. Being a Nonprofit funds are tight and we would like to continue to support our website ourselves with minimal outside help but will need some training in order to do so. The attached brochure helps describe the project and references a website and donor box account the website needs a redesign and was built as a temporary site, we have not gone live on a fundraising promotion.
